Fun River Activity for Family
The waters of the Yura river are so clear that you can see straight down to the riverbed, not to mention all the ayu sweetfish and even their fry swimming about, without goggles. This is an excellent place for kids to pick up stones, try to catch small fish and otherwise enjoy spending time at the riverside.
Summer Riverfish (Ayu) Catching Experience
"Summer Riverfish (ayu) catching" is now a summer tradition in Miyama.
The shallow stream is dammed up and a number of ayu fishes are released into it. Participants enjoy fish catching by their hands or using small nets and compete how many they can catch within a limited timeframe.
It's a fun river activity for the family, organized by Miyama Nature & Culture Village every summer.
