Miyama Folklore Museum

The museum is located within the Miyama's thatched village.
This building was originally built approximately 200 years ago and it has been used as folklore musuem since 1993 when Miyama's thatched village was designated as the Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District by Japanese government. The museum showcases inside of traditional thatched roof house and villagers lifestyle. You can view guest room, bath room, old barn etc. of the typical thatched roof farm house in 19th century.   
The total number of 39 thatched houses still survive as locals' residential houses  in the Miyama's thatched village  As most of the houses are private dwellings, the museum is one of few places you can see the inside & backside of the house.
The lady in the museum speaks a little English and welcome you with local harb tea.
