Homyoji Temple

Homyoji Temple is a Soto Sect (Zen Buddhism) temple and its deity is Twelve faced Kannon.
Highlight of this temple is the cherry tree found in 18th century. The tree is a result of mutation of mountain cherry trees and named as "Homoyoji Cherry Tree" by SANO Touemon (the 15th), highly respected cherry tree guardian. Densely bloomed double flowers on the big old tree is gorgeous. Tend to full bloom at around 20th April, slightly later than standard cherry trees.
