Experience the ultimate rural life
This property breathes new life into old traditional Japanese houses that have become vacant in the Tsurugaoka area, creating a comfortable space that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
Tsurugaoka in Miyama is an isolated and remote area that embodies the ultimate rural landscape. By staying at NIPPONIA, we hope that visitors and locals alike will feel like they are returning to their hometown, discover the richness of life here, and share this feeling. Our goal is to provide a place where such meaningful encounters can occur.
The “HOTARUBI” house comes from the many fireflies (hotaru) that light up the Sunagidani River flowing through the village.
HOTARUBI stands out as an exceptionally large thatched-roof house, offering a calming atmosphere just by observing its traditional architecture.
Additionally, staying in the kura (storehouse), which has protected the home’s precious belongings for generations, offers a unique experience distinct from the main house. It’s a unique space that cannot be fully replicated in a typical traditional home.
