“NIPPONIA Miyama Tsurugaoka Mountain Village”
This property breathes new life into old traditional Japanese houses that have become vacant in the Tsurugaoka area, creating a comfortable space that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.

Tsurugaoka in Miyama is an isolated and remote area that embodies the ultimate rural landscape. By staying at NIPPONIA, we hope that visitors and locals alike will feel like they are returning to their hometown, discover the richness of life here, and share this feeling. Our goal is to provide a place where such meaningful encounters can occur.

The “HOTARUBI” house comes from the many fireflies (hotaru) that light up the Sunagidani River flowing through the village.

HOTARUBI stands out as an exceptionally large thatched-roof house, offering a calming atmosphere just by observing its traditional architecture.
Additionally, staying in the kura (storehouse), which has protected the home’s precious belongings for generations, offers a unique experience distinct from the main house. It’s a unique space that cannot be fully replicated in a typical traditional home.

【Room】HOTARUBI 101 ZASHIKI

This bright and spacious space is surrounded by an Engawa Japanese inner porch. The unique dark blue and black walls look lovely. A Shigaraki-ware bathtub, an Ajiro ceiling, and a garden view are enjoyed through a good old-fashioned glass window from the living room, which has a coffered ceiling. Relax and unwind in guest rooms that are elaborately designed with every detail. 101 ZASHIKI and 102 DAIDOKO can be booked as a whole house rental style. In this case, you can use the room between the two rooms.

【Room】HOTARUBI 102 DAIDOKO

The Gorombo (beams) smoked by the smoke from the sunken hearth and kamado are amazing. The rare old-fashioned Daido Kamoi (sliding door lintel structure) is still in place. The tiled Goemon bath(traditional bath) is kawaii and a delightful room. 101 ZASHIKI and 102 DAIDOKO can be booked as a whole house rental style. In this case, you can use the room to come and go between the two rooms freely.

【Room】HOTARUBI 103 KURA

The dark warehouse was renovated into the brightest room. The room is renovated with glass walls retaining the structure of the warehouse, offering a view of the Kayabuki small thatched temple building. The robust and compact space is ideal for a calm and relaxing stay. You can also spend time on the deck outside the warehouse to feel the fresh air.
