Experience the ultimate rural life
“NIPPONIA Miyama Tsurugaoka Mountain Village”
This property breathes new life into old traditional Japanese houses that had become vacant in the Tsurugaoka area, creating a comfortable space that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
Tsurugaoka in Miyama Town, known as an isolated and remote area, embodies the ultimate rural landscape. By staying at “NIPPONIA,” we hope that visitors and locals alike will experience a sense of returning to their hometown, discover the richness of life here, and share in this feeling together. Our goal is to provide a place where such meaningful encounters can occur.
The “HOTARUBI” house takes its name from the many fireflies (hotaru) that light up the Sunagidani River flowing through the village.
HOTARUBI stands out as an exceptionally large thatched-roof house, offering a calming atmosphere just by observing its traditional architecture.
Additionally, staying in the kura (storehouse), which has protected the home’s precious belongings for generations, offers a unique experience distinct from the main house. It’s a special space that cannot be fully replicated in a typical traditional home.
