Snow Lantern Festival in Miyama's Thatched Village

Snow lantern festival at Thatched Village is held annually in snowy season. Handmade snow lanterns and electric lights as well as illuminations of thatched roof houses make fantastic and nostalgic scenery of the village covered by white snow.

Please make sure to make prior reservation before you come.

FEE: JPY1,500/ per a normal car.

*Reservation will be closed as soon as parking spaces are full.
CAPACITY: 80 cars
*There is no nearby car parking. Parking on the street or on private property is prohibited.

※Please be noted the last bus leaves Kita bus stop (Kayabuki-no-sato) in early evening (18:25 on weekdays, 17:01 on Saturdays and 16:54 on Sundays).

※Please be sure to check the bus timetable as the number of services is limited. ※On the following four dates—January 25, 26, 29, and February 1, 2025—a Nantan City bus is scheduled to operate from the “Kita” bus stop in the thatched village at 7:00 PM to “JR Hiyoshi Station. These buses will also connect with the 8:20 PM JR Hiyoshi Station train bound for Kyoto Station. One day excursion bus from JR Kyoto Station by Keihan Kyoto Kotsu Priority to those with reservations Excursion bus from Kyoto Station

Due to insufficient snowfall in Miyama, the Snow Lantern Making Activity has been canceled during the event period.
Please join creating beautiful landscape with your handmade snow lanterns.
*Snow lantern making activity may be cancelled should snow accumulation is insufficient.
VENUE : The reception is just in front of Restaurant Kitamura.
PRICE：JPY100 for snow lantern making kit.(a candle, backet and mini shovel.)
